Is it covered? What will my share of the cost be?
This is the information members need to know when considering a medical treatment or procedure. And while they can call and ask about their benefits, sitting on the phone to request information may not be the most efficient use of their time. That’s why there’s a faster and easier way for members to check their benefits—just log in!
Help customers access their benefits information online |
|
All registered members have access to the Benefits Plan section within Member Services. They can search by benefit to see what’s covered under their plan and find out what their share of the cost will be. With these details at their fingertips, they can make smart decisions about their medical care.
Encourage your customers to use this important self-service feature! To access it, just log in to Member Services. The new Benefits Plan section appears at the bottom of the Benefits Usage page. |

Have you reached out to your 65+ customers? |
|
|
The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7. While you’re working with customers to find the right plan for them, remember to ask about their travel plans. Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage provide only limited coverage overseas. So, if any international trips are on the horizon, help customers get the coverage they need with travel medical insurance plans from GeoBlue. |

Plus, it only takes minutes to quote and buy. Make sure your 65+ customers have up to $1 million in medical protection and coverage for pre-existing conditions when they’re outside the U.S. |

Navigating the waters of cruise ship coverage
If your customers are making plans to sail the seas on a cruise vacation, let them know they’re covered with GeoBlue. |

|
Here’s how our cruise ship coverage works, based on the level of treatment needed:
- If a member requires medical care on a cruise ship beyond simple bandaging or pain/sickness medication, the doctor on board will do their best to provide treatment.
- If an illness or injury requires more care than can be provided on the ship, the crew will work to get the member transferred to a facility on land.
- If the ship ends up docking on international soil, GeoBlue benefits will cover medically necessary treatment according to the customer’s plan benefits.
- If the ship docks in the U.S., Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, members will use their domestic health insurance coverage.
- Once on international soil, should the illness or injury be immediately life-threatening, GeoBlue plans provide coverage for medical evacuations deemed medically necessary.

|
Also, make sure your customers understand how payments work:
- If the ship docks internationally, your customers or their travel companions should call us to find out the nearest contracted medical facility. This will help ensure they don’t pay out of pocket for care.
- If they end up at a medical facility that we don’t contract with, we’ll still provide the same level of coverage. However, they’ll have to pay up front and submit a claim for reimbursement.
- We do not contract with cruise ship companies for Direct Pay. If your customers incur costs from care provided on the ship, they can submit a claim for reimbursement.
- All claims can be submitted online through Member Services.
