With all the recent media coverage of COVID-19 (coronavirus), it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed by this unprecedented situation. We, here at GeoBlue, have a team that has been continuously monitoring the situation and are committed to ensuring our members get the care and support they need through this crisis. We’ve summarized below the efforts we’ve made to keep our stakeholders – members, brokers, clients, vendors and Blue Plan partners like you – informed as the situation evolves.
While it’s hard to think about anything else other than the coronavirus right now, we must remain focused on our longer-term business objectives – to ensure the health of our business after this crisis ends and to concentrate on what we can control. On that note, despite the virus situation, our sales teams remain out in market, albeit on a virtual basis. One of the benefits of being in the international space, and especially the corporate segment, is that multinational companies need to maintain their global operations and the people that run and support those operations, and that’s where our BCBS Global solutions come in.
With our strong domestic brand in Blue Cross Blue Shield, and our strength outside the U.S. with Bupa Global, together we have the world’s largest care network of 1.7+ million providers worldwide.
This combination provides a compelling value proposition that can help protect your domestic portfolio and serve the needs of your accounts. While we as a system dominate domestically, our competitors have more market share internationally. This means competitors could gain a foothold into your domestic medical business through winning and serving globally-mobile members.
The bottom line: If your clients aren't getting their international solutions from you, then they're getting them from our competitors. There is a lot of opportunity to be won when we offer a Blue domestic and international solution.

COVID-19 resources available

Like many of you, we are closely monitoring the current situation with coronavirus (COVID-19) and reviewing information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to ensure that our members and employees stay safe and protected. To that end, we recently issued a press release detailing our expanded resources, including access to our Global TeleMD™ product (international telemedicine) for our group short-term traveler plans until May 31.
